Known as ‘America’s Favorite Drive,’ The Blue Ridge Parkway is the most visited part of America’s National Park System. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs 469 miles starting from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along the North Carolina - Tennessee border to the Shenandoah National Park in Rock Gap, Virginia. Much of the land along the Blue Ridge Parkway is owned and managed as widerness by the US forest Service. The Blue Ridge Parkway provides breath taking views of the Appalachian Mountains and travels through a few developed areas that highlight the history of the area. The Blue Ridge Parkway also has the distinction of being the world's narrowest national park.
