Mount Rushmore National Memorial is famous for the four Presidents cared into Mt Rushmore: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is in the Black Hills in Keystone, SD, not far south of Rapid City. Designated a national memorial on October 1, 1925, Mount Rushmore is more than just an amazing carving into the side of a mountain, there are miles of hiking trails and cultural interpertations of the history of the local Native Americans.
Little known fact for the day: Thomas Jefferson's face was originally started to the right of George Washington's on Mt Rushmore. After many months of carving, Jefferson's face was blasted off of the mountain and restarted to the left of George Washington.
