Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks are located in the southern Sierra Nevada in Tulare and Fresno counties, CA. Elevations in the park range from 1,500 feet to over 14,400 feet and provide divers habitats; from huge mountains, deep canyons and gigantic Sequoia trees. Most of the parks are made up of high-alpine wilderness and also contain over 200 caverns. Created as two separate national parks at different times, Sequoia and Kings Canyon share miles of boundary and are managed as one park. Sequoia was the second national park designated in this country. General Grant National Park, the forerunner of Kings Canyon, was third. The parks provide ample opportunity to explore nature and wildlife.
